Hello! My name is Rachel, I am a wife to my wonderful husband Mark and a mother to my beautiful 10-year-old daughter. I have been a stamper for 12 years and a scrapper for eight years. I became a stamper when I attended a D.O.T.S. (Dozens of Terrific Stamps, the predecessor company of Close to my Heart) gathering in a friend's home. I had so much fun creating cards for all my friends. I even stamped the announcement of my daughter's birth 10 years ago! Once she was born, however, stamping took a back seat to parenting.
In 2000, when my daughter was 2 years old, I decided I wanted to find a way to document her first two years and preserve those memories in a way I could share them with others. So, I decided to make a scrapbook. Boy, that was a big project! I liked doing it, but I found it difficult to coordinate all the supplies and I found myself driving all over town to acquire everything -- cardstock from one place, patterned paper from another, random stickers from wherever I saw cute ones... I would get home and either things wouldn't match, or they weren't what I was hoping for, or I had no idea how to put them together to optimize their potential. Another difficulty was finding inspiration. I dealt with the difficulties and produced a scrapbook that was just fine, but didn't have that "Wow!" factor I so desperately wanted.
Then a friend of mine introduced me to Close to my Heart (CTMH). Here I found all the answers: coordinating paper, markers and stickers, an Idea Book full of inspiration, and how-to programs to help me put it all together -- plus many, many stamps with inks that coordinated with the papers. I could finally move my stamping hobby back to the forefront. I discovered that I had missed stamping more than I knew.
